We are looking for a proactive and hands-on HSE Manager who is passionate about driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with world-class standards. Reporting directly to the Plant Director, with a dotted line to the HSE Cluster Manager, you will play a key role in protecting people, processes, and the environment.


As our HSE Manager, you will lead and coordinate all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities at site level, ensuring full compliance with local legislation and international standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead HSE initiatives to ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards
  • Drive the Safety (SAF) pillar and support broader technical improvement activities
  • Conduct job exposure analyses to ensure safe working environments
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve HSE procedures and programs
  • Maintain and enhance ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) management systems
  • Manage incident reporting and investigation, including root cause analysis and preventive actions
  • Perform audits, inspections, and compliance checks (daily to annual)
  • Design and deliver safety training programs to build awareness and capability across the workforce
  • Oversee waste management and environmental compliance, including documentation and reporting
  • Maintain HSE records, logs, and regulatory documentation
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders (authorities, environmental agencies, fire departments, etc.)
  • Promote employee engagement by recognizing and encouraging safety improvements

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Management, or equivalent
  • 3–5 years’ experience in HSE within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of South African HSE legislation and best practices
  • SAMTRAC certification (mandatory), NEBOSH certification is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 systems and implementation
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing or WCM is a plus
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills in English
