RESEARCH PROJECT / STREAM LEADER

Ariston Group is a global leader in sustainable thermal comfort that offers a unique, extensive range of solutions for climate comfort, water heating and air handling, as well as components and burners. Listed on Euronext Milan since November 2021, in 2024 the group reported over 2.6-billion-euro revenues, with over 10,000 employees, direct presence in 40 countries in 5 continents, 28 production sites and 28 research and development centers. The group demonstrates its commitment to sustainability through the development of renewable and high efficiency solutions, such as heat pumps, water heating heat pumps, hybrids, domestic ventilation, air handling and solar thermal systems. The group also stands out for its continuous investment in technological innovation, digitalization, and advanced connectivity solutions. The group operates under global strategic brands Ariston, Elco and Wolf, and brands such as Calorex, NTI, HTP, Atag, Brink, Chromagen, Racold, as well as Thermowatt and Ecoflam in the components and burners business.

Turning uncertainty into knowledge. Turning knowledge into future solutions.

In our Research organization, value is not created by delivering finished solutions — but by understanding what is possible, what works, and why. We explore technologies before they are needed, map solution spaces before decisions are made, and transform uncertainty into structured, reusable knowledge that fuels long-term competitive advantage. We don’t develop products. We build the knowledge that makes them possible.

As a Research Project / Stream Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological future of our company. You will lead the exploration of key research domains, guide multidisciplinary teams, and drive the creation of validated insights that will inform and enable our next-generation products. This is not a traditional project role. This is where exploration meets impact — and where future solutions begin.

YOUR ROLE

  • You will lead one or more research streams focused on advancing fundamental understanding across critical technological domains. Your mission is not to optimize known solutions, but to expand what is possible, mapping the design space, clarifying trade-offs, and generating evidence-based knowledge that Development teams can build upon with confidence.
  • You will operate at the intersection of research, experimentation, modeling, and system thinking — connecting disciplines, orchestrating learning cycles, and enabling evidence-driven decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead one or more research streams across domains such as: Energy systems, Heat transfer & thermodynamics, Fluid dynamics, Materials, Acoustics, Electronics & control systems
  • Drive the creation of knowledge, not just solutions: Map design spaces, identify governing parameters, define feasibility boundaries and trade-offs
  • Guide multidisciplinary teams (internal experts, universities, external partners) toward progressive, evidence-based convergence.
  • Orchestrate research activities to close critical knowledge gaps, ensuring alignment between experiments, modeling, and simulations.
  • Drive the progressive convergence of the solution space, eliminating weak options and strengthening viable ones through evidence.
  • Organize and lead Integrating Events — hands-on, data-driven reviews centered on physical evidence, models, and learnings.
  • Ensure research outcomes are captured as reusable assets: Trade-off curves, models and simulations, feasibility maps and reference frameworks
  • Act as a key interface between Research, Development, and external ecosystems, ensuring relevance, alignment, and future applicability.
  • Contribute to shaping research directions and strategic decisions through deep technical insight and systemic understanding.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (PhD is a strong plus).
  • Solid experience of at least 4 years in research, innovation, or advanced development, from industry and/or academia.
  • Strong background in one or more of the following domains: energy systems, heat transfer / thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials, acoustics, electronics, control systems (with curiosity and willingness to expand across domains)
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Strong systems thinking — able to connect domains and uncover meaningful trade-offs.
  • Experience or strong interest in experimental work, modeling, and simulation.
  • An exploratory mindset combined with pragmatism and result orientation.
  • Comfort operating in high-uncertainty environments, driving learning and convergence through evidence.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, including work with universities and external research partners.
  • Fluency in English, Italian is a strong plus.

WHY JOIN US

  • Work at the frontier of technology, before products and platforms exist.
  • Influence long-term strategic direction through deep technical insight.
  • Collaborate with top experts across disciplines and research ecosystems.
  • See your work translate into lasting, reusable knowledge that shapes future generations of products.

We are committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all people, by offering a work environment accessible, welcoming and inclusive in compliance with legal obligations.
